Abstract
In May 2017 Kota Kediri experienced an inflation of 0.50 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 125.51 compared to the March 2017 CPI of 124.88. From 8 CPI regency/municipality in East Java, all experienced inflation with the highest increase in Malang by 0.82 percent. The lowest inflation in Banyuwangi was 0.33 percent.
Inflation in Kota Kediri in May 2017 was influenced by the increase and decrease of expenditure group. Increased expenditure groups among others Foodstuffs rose by 1.18 percent; Soy food group by 0,24 percent; Group Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Fuel by 0.64 percent; Health group by 0.28 percent; As well as the Transport, Communications and Financial Services group by 0.34 percent. Declining spending groups, among others, Sandang group fell by 0.03 percent and Education, Recreation and Sports by 0.06 percent.
The commodities that contributed the most to inflation in Kediri City in May 2017 were Garlic, Electricity, Gasoline, Chicken Race Egg, Chicken Rice, Rice, Rice with Side dish, Banana, Red Chilli and Prescription Drugs.
The commodities that provide the greatest pressure on inflation in Kediri Municipality in May 2017 are Orange, Beef, Red Onion, Coconut, Melon, Spinach, Cellphone Tariff, Gold Jewelry, White Cole / Cabbage, and Chilli Rawit.
Kediri Municipality inflation in May 2017 was 0.50 percent and inflation of calendar year was 2.41 percent while inflation in "year on year" (May 2017 to May 2016) reached 3.84 percent.
